Aloha friend,
As I was looking around for inspiration for the title of my upcoming memoir, the most common theme I noticed with competitors in my space was book titles with food.
It makes complete sense because food is heavily tied to Asian culture.
And perhaps it’s because the topic is so salient in my mind now, but it feels like perfect timing to have the lovely Vanda Asapahu join us in the studio today.
Vanda is a second-generation Thai restauranteur, of the Michelin-rated restaurant, Ayara Thai, and the first female host of Masters of Taste, the biggest food event at the Rose Bowl.
It’s always easy to look from the outside, congratulate, and then move on. But I challenge you to tune in and listen to Vanda as she shares the hurdles she had to overcome on a personal level to show up in the ways she wants and needs to for herself, her family, and her team to get to where she is today.
In our conversation, we talk a lot about perfectionism, finding a path for ourselves, productivity, identity, and expectations being children of immigrants.

P.S. If you’ve ever felt inspired by our show or any of the guests we’ve had the honor of interviewing, consider leaving us a review. It takes just a couple of minutes and helps the podcast get in front of more people who need to hear our message.
